RICHMOND, Va. — The battle is on between colleges around the country to see who can come out on top. Trash cans and recycle bins will serve as the playing field for RecycleMania.
RecycleMania is a ten-week nationwide competition to see which school can recycle the most. The competition is similar to the NCAA tournament where schools will be part of a bracket and each week schools will advance in the bracket until there is just one school standing. Schools can adavance by recycling things like paper and plastics and throwing away your trash.
According to VCU, the university’s current recycling rate sits at 35 percent. Last year VCU finished second at the state level. The competition will last until April 2.
