RICHMOND, Va. – With the VCU men’s basketball team headed to the NCAA Final Four this Saturday, a pre-season interview by VCU InSight with point guard Joey Rodriguez has garnered some interest.

In fall 2010 VCU InSight interviewed Rodriguez as part of the news show’s regular interview segment, which is produced by undergraduate students in the School of Mass Communications. Marcos Chappell, a broadcast journalism student, conducted the interview in late October. It was originally posted to this website on November 2, 2010.

The day before the Final Four game in Houston, Texas, CBS Sports contacted VCU InSight for permission to air the video. It is slated to air during pre-game coverage.

In the interview Rodriguez talks about how he spent all of summer 2010 in the weight room to improve his game.

Rodriguez said, “You can always get better. And as long as you’re getting better, then you have goals that are higher than anybody elses’.”

He also said that the team would, “Want to try to make a run to the NCAA tournament, for sure.”

The interview video is re-posted below.

CBS Sports said they also plan on airing a video in Final Four pregame coverage produced this week by VCU InSight reporter Patrick Rossman. It has scenes from the Wed., March 30 send off VCU fans gave to the team on their way to the Final Four.
