RICHMOND, Va. – Hospital patients come to expect their doctors to make their daily rounds. But Ludwell Pickett was visited by a different kind of healer.

Pickett and other patients had the chance to meet Daisy, a yellow Labrador Retriever, who is ready and willing to lift the spirits of patients, visiting family, and even staff in the halls of the VCU Medical Center.

Daisy is part of Dogs on Call, a therapy program from VCU’s Center for Human-Animal Interaction.

Daisy and 30 other dogs in the program, come to the hospital at least twice a month with their owners to spread good cheer and restore normalcy to the lives of patients.
