RICHMOND, Va — A few days before the 10th anniversary of 9/11, VCU Libraries and Friends of the Library hosted a small reception opening an exhibit of sound recordings of one of the World Trade Center towers made in 1999.

Steven Vitiello, an associate professor of Kinetic Imaging, captured sounds on the 91st floor of Tower One during a six-month artist residency in 1999.

About 40 guests attended the reception on Friday, Sept. 9 in the James Branch Cabell Library on the Monroe Park campus. They could enter a booth to hear the recordings which included winds from Hurricane Floyd that hit New York during his visit.

The recordings were on exhibit from Sept. 9 through Sept. 23.
